Internet Explorer 8 Users

If WebCT seems slow or items appear out of place you should turn on 'Compatibility Mode'. Click the button to the right of the address bar in IE8.

New usernames

Please note all usernames are now 8 digits long. If your person code is not 8 digits then you should add zeros to the start to make 8 digits. (e.g. if your person code is 345678, your username is 00345678).

First time users

If this is the first time you have used WebCT then please click on ‘System Requirements’ to make sure you are properly set up.

Browser Check

We highly recommend that you perform a browser check before logging in to ensure your computer is properly configured to use WebCT. Click on "Check Browser" at the top of this page.

Pop-up Blockers

This site makes use of pop-up windows. If you have a pop-up blocker installed, please disable it for this site.

Java Security Certificate

After logging in to WebCT, you will be prompted to accept a Java Security Certificate. You must click Yes, Run or Always to ensure that WebCT functionality using Java will work properly in your browser.

What is WebCT?

WebCT offers a whole range of on-line learning tools for staff and students which can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection. If you are a student, your course tutor will advise you if there is an area on WebCT specific to your course. If there is then this area may allow you access to course materials, e-mail, discussion boards, on-line tests and much more. Speak to your course tutor to find out more.

As well as individual course areas, everyone has access to ‘The Virtual College’ area which contains hundreds of resources that may be useful during your time at Dudley College. This includes a library of interactive learning materials for all subjects, an interactive guide on how to use WebCT, on-line careers advisor, training materials on how to use a PC, multimedia materials for literacy and numeracy, induction materials and much more. Just log on to WebCT and click on ‘The Virtual College’ to find out what is available. More materials will appear in this area throughout the academic year.

WebCT Help

You can find out more information about using WebCT on the Student Intranet at: http://www.dudley.ac.uk/vle.htm. This includes a paper guide on how to use all of the features of WebCT.

After you log in to WebCT you can view your profile by clicking on ‘My Settings’ in the top right of the screen. From hear you can edit your profile to store your e-mail address. You can also change your password and enter your secret question and answer. Doing this will allow you to get an automatic e-mail reminder of your password should you forget it.

You can also access the Virtual College area within WebCT which includes a whole section of how to use WebCT and a range of support information.
